Whitaker brings 25 years of growing businesses in the food service industry to Spoon Me

Popular frozen yogurt franchise Spoon Me today announced the hire of former Panda Express executive and food services veteran Brad Whitaker as the company’s new CEO. Mr. Whitaker was brought on board to manage Spoon Me’s immense expansion in 2010 and beyond. Last year, Spoon Me grew to a total of 11 locations in the U.S. and signed, among others, a 25 store master franchise agreement in Western Canada. The company is projecting significant growth in 2010 and in future years.

Mr. Whitaker’s experience spans 25 years of development for companies like Marriott, PepsiCo (now YUM), CKE Restaurants and Boston Market. He was also Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer of Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. During Mr. Whitaker’s tenure at Panda Restaurant Group, he provided the leadership that created the street concept and led the company out of the malls and onto the street, opening more than 700 locations in seven years.

"Brad has an exceptional track record of growing restaurants and food service businesses, and his experience in this industry will lead the Spoon Me brand to become an industry leader,” said Dave Jaynes, President and Co-Founder of Spoon Me.

Spoon Me has been researching exciting new products to introduce into the menu mix in the near future. “In a concept where yogurt is the star, we will introduce new supporting products to round out the Spoon Me experience,” says Whitaker.
