DISH Network Flaunts Affordability in Grammy Ads

Time Warner, DirecTV and AT&T have all announced price increases. DISH Network goes on the offensive in ads that debuted during the Grammy's. The ads tout the fact that DISH Network prices are more affordable. Sterling Satellite - a DISH Network affiliate - notes prices are either holding steady or with current promotions – declining.

The DISH Network Ad said that DirecTV customers spend (on average) over $175 a year more than Dish Network customers. One reason? The cost of celebrity endorsements.

While other cable and satellite television providers have decided to raise rates on their programming packages, DISH Network will not says reseller Sterling Satellite (http://www.SterlingSatellite.com). One of the reasons? Costly celebrity endorsements.

Instead of going up, rates for DISH Network packages will remain the same at the start of 2010. Base prices for programming packages will remain unchanged and some prices will actually decline. The cost of America’s Everything Pak will be reduced by $3 each month.

According to a recent article in New York Times prices are going up across the board, "Time Warner Cable is not alone in raising rates; higher prices go into effect for DirecTV and AT&T’s customers next month."

Other providers have announced 5% or higher increases for programming. DISH Network remains committed to keeping television affordable for American families in this tough economy. In addition to freezing the prices of its packages, DISH Network will continue its current DISH Network promotions for new subscribers.

Eligible new subscribers can save $15 each month on their programming package for 12 months. With the promotion, switching to DISH Network is an even more attractive option for those burned by rate increases from other providers. However, this program could end at any time, so switch soon.

Current DISH Network customers will be able to receive the same Dish TV packages without having to pay a single cent more each month for their programming. The programming included in each package has remained the same – we have not taken away channels instead of raising prices. In fact, some channels are being offered at lower package levels than before. For example, the NHL Network is now available to America’s Top 200 level subscribers. Previously it was only available with the America’s Top 250 package or the Multi-Sport package.

Not only are prices not going up, many packages have more channels than they did last year. To reflect the change some of the package names have changed. The Classic Bronze 100 package will now be known as the America’s Top 120 package to better reflect the increased number of channels available in that package. The “Plus” version of the Classic Bronze 100 will now be known as the America’s Top 120 Plus package. The Classic Silver 200 and Classic Gold 250 packages have also been rebranded to the America’s Top 200 and America’s Top 250 packages respectively. These packages still offer great value no matter what their names are!

The cost for local channels and the cost of adding HD programming will also remain the same. Premium movie channels, like HBO and Showtime, will still be available at the same low monthly rate as before; the discounted pricing that applies when you order more than one premium movie channel also remains unchanged.
