SMG's focus is always on our patients
Berkeley Heights, NJ (Vocus) February 7, 2010
Berkeley Heights -- Summit Medical Group (SMG) was the recent recipient of a Customized Training Grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD).
Donna Stoveken, manager of SMG’s training and education department, worked with William Paterson University and their subcontractor, TNT Educational Services, to obtain the grant. “SMG's focus is always on our patients,” said Stoveken. “This grant allows our staff to receive a full range of valuable training, so they may continue to provide the exceptional patient care that has been our hallmark since 1929.”
Upon receipt of the grant, SMG launched a customer service initiative, called “I AM SMG.” The initiative is broken down into different training components focusing on a customer service topic of the month such as image, accountability, communication, and service and hospitality. Staff attend two-hour sessions once a month. “This initiative will enhance the professionalism and education of all employees and is part of SMG’s continued efforts towards superior service to the community,” added Stoveken.
According to the LWD department website, the Customized Training Grant program was established in 1992. It is a powerful development tool designed to create and retain high-skill, high-wage private sector jobs in New Jersey, as a means to ensure productive, globally competitive workers.
