Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) February 6, 2010
After a massive 7.0 earthquake shook the core of Haiti’s capital city Port-au-Prince on January 12th, the survivors have been struggling to keep it together. The abysmal hunger and urgent need for medical relief has raised the mortality rate to over 200,000 and still counting.
A Humanity First Disaster Relief Team (HFDR) is returning this weekend after treating over 2,000 patients at Humanity First Medical Camps in Carrefour, Port-au-Prince, and Da Da Duo. Cases ranged from major chronic conditions to fractures and trauma. Everyday, Humanity First volunteers are taking major health and security risks to save lives.
The volunteers are returning as per the following schedule:
Saturday, February 6th, at 3:45 PM CT at Little Rock National Airport:
- Dr. Iftikhar Ali, M.D., specialized in ER Medicine, Dr. Phillip Snodgrass M.D., ER Medicine, and 2 RNs, Kyle B. Rhone and Michael Simpson (work at Veterans Administration Hospital)
Saturday, February 6th, at 4:55 PM CST at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
- Alicia Roberson, RN (works at Breckenridge Hospital)
Sunday, February 7th, at 3:05 PM PST at Los Angeles International Airport
- Dr. Andrea Seiffertt, M.D., specialized in Internal Medicine
Humanity First teams are working hard on the ground and behind the scenes to find a way to bring things back to the way they were before the natural disaster wiped out everything. Treating thousands of cases ranging from infections to major wounds, the team worked tirelessly to relieve the pain for many. At the end of the day, Dr. Ali states “we are exhausted yet very satisfied that we made a little difference.”
