Staring longingly out the window at work, yearning for something different that will challenge and reward but don’t know where to start?
Magnums Butlers International offers the answer to unmet life aspirations with the Butler/Valet distance learning program.
Magnums Butlers International allows students to achieve the qualifications to become a butler/valet in your own time and complete modules at a pace that suits both financially and academically.
Josephine Ive, founder of Magnums Butlers International, describes today’s butler/valet as a ‘mini-manager’, who leads and develops other staff members through skilful training and coaching.
“A butler is committed to the highest standards of service, anticipates as well as expedites, organises as well as implements, and delegates effectively,” tells Josephine.
The full program consists of ten modules and to make the training more cost effective Magnums Butlers International provides a discounted price when the 10 modules are paid in full.
“The discounted package (AUD$2000) includes all the modules and DVD’s. Students can then submit assignment as and when they wish,” explains Josephine. “Also included is the marking of assignments, mentoring, a bonus gift of a butler's apron and white butler gloves as well as your certificate from Magnums Butlers International upon completion.”
Module one is the Introduction to the Profession of Butler/Valet. “It is here where you are taught to set the standards and systems within the property,” states Josephine. “You are provided with the tools to understand the roles of personnel for professional household management by creating and maintaining routines and schedules, purchasing, staffing, personal presentation and grooming.”
Module two, Table Management teaches elegant butler-style service for the private dining room, advance preparations including cleaning silver and creating beautiful table settings and how to achieve those finishing touches.
Module three, Personal Valet and Laundry Management includes the basic requirements and knowledge for the care and handling of clothes.
In module four, Communication One, teaches etiquette, protocol and manners. “An important module in the world of butlering,” states Josephine. “General etiquette is pertinent to the many situations which the professional butler will be required to handle.”
Module five, Housekeeping & Household Management, provides a comprehensive guide to housekeeping, techniques and guidelines to assist in the professional running of the property, time management, technology and computer systems, interview and hiring staff and staff inspections skills.
Module six, the Butler’s Pantry, entails menu planning for different food styles and dietary requirements.
“A professional Butler may often be called upon to 'create' a meal, so some basic techniques and recipes are included, along with some practical application,” explains Josephine.
Module seven, Entertaining Skills, including event planning provides the skills to set up for functions, create stunning table settings for both formal and less formal events and gain the skills to manage staff and understand how to store and serve Champagne, cigars and more.
Module eight, Wine and Beverage Service, is an in-depth look at wines, French champagnes and sparkling wines from around the globe. Spirits, beers traditional and boutique, well-known (and new) as well as non-alcoholic beverages and cocktails are also covered.
Module nine, Communication Two, teaches guest and client awareness, security and relevant travel topics.
“It is about establishing a rapport with employers and guests through more knowledge from a geographical and cultural point of view,” states Josephine.
Module 10, The Extra Care Component is about ‘wow’ing clients, guests and employers by creating those extra special services to impress.
The program can be received either by email or via the post. Each module contains comprehensive notes and instructions and is assessed through several assignments, due on completion of the module.
“The assignment is then marked, your grades recorded and then returned to you,” comments Josephine. “It is advised that you take around two weeks to complete each lesson for maximum benefit, however you can take as long as you wish, within reason.”
“No exams, study in the comfort of your own home, receive reliable assistance from industry professionals and upon completion receive a well respected and industry recognised certificate to kick start your new and exciting career as a butler/valet.”
Enrolling is simple, visit the website (http://www.magnumsbutlers.com/butler-valet-distance-learning.htm) purchase a lesson and complete the online enrolment form.
