NY Plastic Surgeon Challenges Long-Held Separation of Derms and Plastic Surgeons

Dermatologists and plastic surgeons have so much overlap in the services they provide, that they generally avoid any professional affiliation, and certainly avoid officing together in the same practice. Two New York and New Jersey doctors have chosen to jump in together in practice to offer up more services to their patients.

For years, a practice similar to the "separation of church and state" has been the norm for New Jersey and New York dermatologists and plastic surgeons, as in the rest of the nation. Although they might play golf with one another, they almost never practice medicine together due to the inherent competition between the two specialties, specifically in the area of skincare.

Enter board-certified New Jersey plastic surgeon, Dr. Chang Soo Kim in his new position as NJ Plastic Surgeon at Skin and Laser Surgery Specialists of NY and NJ, headed by author and board-certified dermatologist Dr. David J. Goldberg.

Dr. Kim will perform plastic surgery procedures such as breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lifts, breast reconstruction, tummy tuck and abdominoplasty, traditional and laser liposuction, facelifts, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, lip augmentation, and browlifts.

He is also experienced with performing complicated revision surgery for breast augmentations, which he often performs in conjunction with a short scar breast lift.

The author of several works of research and peer-reviewed articles graduated from Yale University School of Medicine in 1997, and was awarded a Yale Plastic Surgery Scholastic Award in 2002 and 2003. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Haverford College in 1992.
