Peter Conti Jr. of Richmond, Va., has received the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s (IAB) 2010 Service Excellence Award for his dedication and leadership in helping educate local marketers and ad agencies in 2009.
The award was presented Sunday at the IAB Annual Leadership conference, “Revenue: The Next Wave” which took place Feb. 21-23 at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
Conti, executive vice president of Borrell Associates Inc., helped create a presentation introducing interactive advertising to local marketers and agencies across the U.S. He provided perspective on overall local advertising trends as well as market-specific spending data to be used in each of the 12 cities where IAB members presented to local marketers. Conti also recruited colleagues from Borrell Associates to help present in Atlanta, Cleveland, Portland, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

Conti, who once owned and managed retail stores in the Washington and Richmond markets, has been a pioneer in the online space. He was the founding manager of Richmond.com in the 1990s and then was hired by Media General Inc. to lead its online publishing efforts. He joined Borrell Associates in 2001.
The IAB selects only a handful of individuals each year for excelling as leaders while completing a significant initiative to foster interactive advertising growth. Across the IAB’s nearly 400 member companies, 18 councils and committees and dozens of working groups, hundreds of members participate each year in shaping the interactive business, its standards, guidelines, and best practices, as well as educational outreach to the marketplace.
