Leading Online Hangout Appoints Chief Product Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales.

Gaia Online, the world's most active online community of more than nine million teens and young adults, has appointed Mike Sego as chief product officer and Chris Davis as senior vice president, sales. Both Sego and Davis will bring innovative thinking and deep industry expertise to Gaia Online and its unique mix of social experiences, casual gaming and dynamic virtual spaces.

A social media entrepreneur and pioneer in social gaming, Mike Sego is the creator and sole developer of the wildly popular (fluff)Friends application for Facebook. The application, which enables users to adopt and interact with virtual pets, was among the first Facebook applications to monetize using a virtual currency. The application attracted millions of users before being acquired by Social Gaming Network in August 2008.

Previously, Sego served as a technical lead at Google on Gmail's Frontend engineering team, where he was recognized for outstanding work with the prestigious Founder's Award in 2007. Prior to his role at Google, Sego served at Electronic Arts as a software engineer working on The Sims Online.

Chris Davis has over 20 years of sales and sales management experience, specializing in custom integrated advertising campaigns. Throughout his career, Davis has worked with many of the world's most successful brands across numerous verticals, including entertainment, gaming, retail, and consumer packaged goods.

Most recently, Davis managed global sales for Neopets, a leading virtual world targeting youth, which was acquired by Viacom/MTV Networks Digital in June 2005. During his time at Neopets, Davis worked with brands including McDonalds, Disney, Hasbro, Target and General Mills to create customized in-world advertising campaigns designed to engage Neopets' member base. Previously, Davis spent 12 years at Pfizer, Inc. in various sales and sales management positions. There he was elected to multiple Vice Presidents Management Cabinets, was named District Manager of the Year and received the "Spartan" Award, named after him to recognize excellence in salesmanship, teamwork and communication.

"Both Mike and Chris have a rich understanding of online social interactions and how to engage the target audience," said Craig Sherman, CEO Gaia Online. "Given their relevant industry experience, we are confident that their leadership will steer Gaia Online down a path of continued growth and development. We are thrilled to have Mike and Chris on board and believe they will be a tremendous asset to our organization."
