"The addition to Thornton will enable WNS to continue to offer unparalleled service and business knowledge to our clients," WNS President Tony Wilbert said. "His deep relationships in Atlanta are key."

Veteran journalist Thornton Kennedy has joined Wilbert News Strategies as partner. He brings 12 years of journalism experience and strong personal and business contacts to the firm founded last year by former journalist and communications expert Tony Wilbert.

Kennedy will manage accounts and help develop new markets for the fast-growing public relations, communications and crisis management firm. He brings with him a breadth of social media knowledge and innovative thinking, two critical components to Wilbert News Strategies’ visibility, strategic positioning and ability to grow and succeed.

For the past four years, Kennedy edited the Industry Focus sections and the small business Strategies section of Atlanta Business Chronicle. Prior to his work at the ABC, he served as the editor for the Northside and Sandy Springs Neighbor newspapers, which cover the Buckhead, Vinings, Sandy Springs and Dunwoody communities in Atlanta. He also served as an editor with the Gaston Gazette in Gastonia, N.C. and the Marietta Daily Journal.

Active in the community, Kennedy serves on the board of the Atlanta Humane Society, where he sits on the executive committee. He also serves on the communications committee of the Georgia Council for Economic Education. He serves on the board of the Ricks-Wheeler Fund, which is charged with helping improve the lives of persons affected by HIV/AIDS in Atlanta. He is a member of the Atlanta Press Club, the Public Relations Society of America and the Atlanta History Center.
