We're honored that Trilliant's multi-tier architecture approach to Smart Grid communications has been recognized as the product of the year by TMC and Intelligent Communications Partners.
Redwood City, CA (PRWEB) February 12, 2010
Trilliant Incorporated, a leader in delivering Smart Grid solutions that enhance energy efficiency, utility operations, and renewable resource integration, announced today that its SecureMesh™ WAN communications infrastructure has received a 2009 SmartGrid.TMCnet.com Product of the Year Award from Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) and Intelligent Communications Partners.
The SecureMesh Wide Area Network (WAN) products provide a low-latency, high-bandwidth wireless mesh network capable of covering hundreds of square miles of the distribution grid. The SecureMesh WAN provides air data rates up to 54 Mbps for Ethernet and IP connectivity to both grid devices and AMI collectors. By connecting grid devices such as substations, voltage regulators, line switches, capacitor banks, and transformers, the SecureMesh WAN provides a communications infrastructure that enables substation automation, distribution automation, and SCADA. By providing backhaul for AMI collectors, the SecureMesh WAN enables secure private networking for advanced metering applications. The SecureMesh WAN integrates distribution networking and AMI backhaul into a common infrastructure that maintains end-to-end security through network virtualization and partitioning.
"We're honored that Trilliant's multi-tier architecture approach to Smart Grid communications has been recognized as the product of the year by TMC and Intelligent Communications Partners," said Rob Conant, Senior Vice President Network Products at Trilliant. "When Trilliant acquired SkyPilot Networks in 2009 we knew that it would have a big impact on the industry, and we have been delighted with the positive responses we have seen from utilities as their needs have migrated from basic AMI systems to more advanced smart grid networks. With our proven, standards-based solutions for Neighborhood Area Networks (NAN) and Home Area Networks (NAN), and the SecureMesh Wide-Area Network (WAN) technology from the acquisition, we are providing utilities a true future-proof infrastructure for their Smart Grid initiatives."
"SmartGrid.TMCnet.com is pleased to grant a 2009 Product of the Year Award to Trilliant for their SecureMesh WAN product. Trilliant has proven they are committed to quality and excellence while addressing real needs in the marketplace," said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "We're proud to honor their accomplishments in the advancement of the smart grid technologies."
