To obtain a Wholesale Distributor Permit, a company must first satisfy the criteria set forth by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Pharmacy. These criteria include establishing an inventory and records management system that tracks the receipt and distribution of all prescription drugs. Other criteria include the establishment of policies and procedures for theft and loss, handling recalls and emergencies, and maintaining a secure facility. To maintain a Wholesale Distributor Permit, a company must allow frequent inspections by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Pharmacy that ensure compliance with the rules and regulations mandated by the state.
