Former Missionary Launches G5 Marketing to Help Needy

Through a coalition of business partners, a former missionary to Haiti has launched G5 Marketing, which stands for “Giving to 5 Worthy Causes,” to help needy people throughout the world.

Through a coalition of business partners, a former missionary to Haiti has launched G5 Marketing, which stands for “Giving to 5 Worthy Causes,” to help needy people throughout the world.

G5 Marketing operates as a customer-acquisition company for clients and donates 40-45% of its profits to causes that help children, rescue teens, aid the elderly, support wounded veterans and care for the sick. Its first client is IDcreditlock, a comprehensive identity-theft solution that provides the components necessary to virtually eliminate identity theft before it happens.

G5 Marketing also is using its philanthropic model to help schools with fundraisers.

The G5 Marketing concept is similar to TOMS Shoes’ “one for one” program, where for every pair of TOMS Shoes purchased the company gives a pair of new shoes to a child in need. The difference is that G5 Marketing gives away a significant portion of its profits instead of a matching product.

The concept is the brainchild of Terry W. Bryant, pastor of Sweetwater Fellowship Church in Huntsville, Ala.

In 1982, Bryant left the pastorate of a growing church in Florida to spend the next six years as a missionary in Haiti, where he saw first-hand the effects of extreme poverty. Upon returning to the U.S., he served on the staff of churches in several states and was a speaker at Bible conferences throughout the nation.

He and his wife, Sherry, have 11 children, two of which are adopted. Providing for his large family necessitated him pursuing business ventures on the side, including insurance sales, which exposed him to the world of entrepreneurs as well as ministry.

Through his diverse experience, Bryant saw an opportunity to blend business and ministry in a way that enables his new company to fund worthy causes around the world.

“One company can’t change the whole world, but we can change the world for some people in desperate need,” said Bryant, who serves as president and CEO of G5 Marketing. “We are constantly searching for ways to keep our overhead low so that we can focus on giving a generous share of our profits away.”
As Bryant shared his vision of creating a company based on giving, it attracted 14 business partners from around the country to be a part of the G5 Marketing team. Now their combined years of experience and compassion are ready to take this concept to the world.

“Our bottom line is to help people,” Bryant said. “For us, success in business means a greater opportunity to put our treasure where our hearts are.”
