Pathlight Entertainment signs D.B. Sweeney ("Miracle At St. Anna", "Eight Men Out", "The Cutting Edge"), in the role of Adam Wells for its upcoming inspirational feature, "Beyond The Farthest Star". The film is set for a Christmas 2010 release and co-stars Renee O’Connor ("Xena", "State Of Hate", "Boogeyman 2"), as Maureen Wells.
"Beyond" is produced by Benjamin Dane ("Significant Other", "Still Born"), Sally Helppie ("Exit Speed", "The Beacon"), and helmed by writer/director, Andrew Librizzi ("Holding On", "Still Born").
The feature film has received critical praise for its screenplay with multi-layered characters and an evolving story. In March, production begins in locations throughout North Texas.
"Beyond The Farthest Star" is an "American Beauty" meets Frank Capra-esque story of betrayal, forgiveness and redemption. Adam Wells, a minister driven by the prospect of achieving greatness as the next nationally syndicated TV Evangelist, lays down his opportunity at “celebrity” and even his own life for his wife and troubled daughter.
"D.B. brings an authenticity and deep soulfulness to every performance which are qualities essential in the portrayal of Adam Wells, an austere preacher who discovers for the first time, the meaning of the message he's been preaching all his life,” says writer/director Andrew Librizzi.
Sweeney most recently completed a recurring role on “24” and a guest star on “CSI NY”. He also wrapped the feature, "Fencewalker" with Katie Cassidy.
"Beyond The Farthest Star" utilizes unique marketing techniques. Currently, producers incorporate a viral video where viewers are challenged to answer the question, “What is Beyond The Farthest Star?”
