Strawberry KS has announced that his new DVD 'Introduction To Locking' will release this week. He admits that only a few years ago such a DVD would have a very limited audience yet today this style of dance is undergoing a huge renaissance.

What you're now seeing is worldwide interest in a dance style which has been mostly underground up to now.

Strawberry KS, a dance teacher that runs dance classes at the Oasis Sports Centre in Camden has announced that he is set to release his first DVD 'Introduction To Locking' this week at 7PM GMT on Wednesday 17 February 2010.

On announcing the release he revealed, "Of course I'm very excited about this, especially considering the quite sudden interest in locking. The surge in dancing and talent shows on television has suddenly put dancing in the spotlight. And also in the form of video sites like YouTube dancers now have a way to showcase their work to a worldwide audience."

Indeed Strawberry KS (real name Kevin Shwe) has used YouTube to build up a following with his video tutorials which have amassed hundreds of thousands of views. He added, "What you're now seeing is worldwide interest in a dance style which has mostly been underground up to now."

Street locking or locking is a style of dance which falls under the general street dance or hip hop dance category. More precisely it can be located as a 'funk style' of dance which means it is typically danced to funk music, and in turn the moves have to be funky.

"This DVD is really taking things back to basics. It's all cool knowing the moves and wanting to show off what you know but there has to be substance behind it. That's what this DVD is about, it's about the little details that make the difference and make you feel the dance."

'Introduction To Locking' takes an approach that has been perfected over the years. It provides tutorial lessons in a front and back view format, the back view aiding the viewer to copy exactly as on screen.

It also takes on an organic learning method, which allows the learner to learn the pieces step by step, master each part and keep the learning as smooth as possible. He adds, "One of the greatest difficulties when learning is trying to overcome the abyss, when there is a sudden rise in difficulty level. What an organic learning method does is eliminate this obstacle completely so the learning remains as smooth as possible for the whole journey."

Strawberry KS is a professional dancer and dance teacher specializing in locking from London, UK. He has danced and worked with many top clients such as ITV, Sony, Samsung, Mastercard and many others.
