Opal Kelly XEM3010 off-the-shelf FPGA USB 2.0 Module is used by Texas Instruments as a key component in their new ADS1675 Reference Design evaluation platform. The Opal Kelly XEM module reduces TI's development time and cost.

Opal Kelly, a leading producer of powerful FPGA USB 2.0 modules that provide essential device-to-computer interconnect, today announced that Opal Kelly XEM3010-1500P modules are being used by Texas Instruments as a key component in their new ADS1675 Reference Design evaluation platform. The Opal Kelly XEM module enables both LVDS and CMOS serial interfaces and provides on-board SDRAM and high-speed USB interface for the TI Reference Design.

The Texas Instruments ADS1675 is a high-speed, high-precision analog-to-digital converter (ADC). Using an advanced delta-sigma architecture, it operates up to 4MSPS with outstanding ac performance and dc accuracy. The ADS1675 Reference Design is a complete PC based solution for the evaluation of the ADS1675 using the ADCPro™ evaluation software. The hardware features the Opal Kelly XEM3010 FPGA controller, which allows the user to choose to run the converter in either serialized LVDS or standard CMOS modes. Options for setting the filter path and sampling rate are also provided.

"The ADS1675 was the first component from our product line which offers either an LVDS or CMOS serial interface. The XEM3010-1500P from Opal Kelly is an 'off the shelf' product which gives our customers the ability to use either serial operating mode with our ADCPro™ analysis software. The on-board SDRAM and high speed USB interface of the XEM3010 gave us the ability to provide our customers with a complete evaluation platform for the ADS1675 while reducing our development time and costs," said Tom Hendrick, Precision Analog - Data Converter Apps. Manager, Nyquist/Motor Control SAR Converter Applications, Texas Instruments, Inc.

"Opal Kelly is pleased to provide the core FPGA module for ADS1675 Reference Design that adds flexibility, lowers cost, and improves time to market for Texas Instruments," said Jake Janovetz, President of Opal Kelly. "The addition of Opal Kelly FPGA modules to vendor evaluation boards dramatically enhances the boards' capabilities and enables their customers to make a much more thorough evaluation of their product."
