It’s great having 82 starts, but a more important number to us is the fact that 60% of those are already sold. We believe there will be a tremendous opportunity for growth in 2010.

Rodrock Homes (http://www.Rodrock.com) understands it is always nice to get good news, but when it comes in triplicate it is three times as nice. The Kansas City Business Journal and the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City recently recognized the Johnson County, Kansas homebuilder for the success the company enjoyed in 2009.
In its ranking of the Top Area Home Builders for 2009 based on number of homes sold, the Kansas City Business Journal (http://www.kansascity.bizjournals.com) placed Rodrock Homes at the top of their list. The February 12th publication noted 95 sales with a $315,789 average sales price. Many of those sales could be attributed to the first-time homebuyers’ tax credit program.
The Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (http://www.kchba.net) publishes its list of Top 20 Builders of single-family housing units each February. Rodrock Homes was tied for first place with 82 new home starts in 2009. Those starts represent 5% of the permits taken out in area encompassing 8 counties and 51 municipalities. Last year, there were 196 home builders in the Greater Kansas City area that took out at least two building permits. The top ranking for the semi-custom builder is the 2nd time in 3 years.
Brian Rodrock, president of Rodrock Homes appreciates the recognition but understands rankings can only take a business so far. “It’s great having 82 starts, but a more important number to me is the fact that 60% of those are already sold. We believe there will be a tremendous opportunity for growth in 2010.”
The third piece of good news supports the claim for growth. A home that is sold but has not closed yet is known as “Sold Ahead” in the industry. According to the company’s president, its Sold Ahead is twice what it was the same time last year. Says Rodrock, “This time last year we had 16 sales on the books, today we have 32. We anticipate those numbers to increase as first-time homebuyers hurry to take advantage of the tax credit program ending soon.”
