The Engine that Drives Silicon Valley.
Santa Fe, NM (Vocus) February 23, 2010
A notable exploration on the greatest non-military disaster in the American history awaits readers as author John Kenny Crane releases, through Xlibris, The Secrets of North Brother Island: An Illustrated Novel of the Greatest American Disaster Before September 11, 2001. An historical novel, it takes readers back to North Brother Island in 1904 to witness a disaster that gnarled its taproots as far as the Civil War and probably farther.
The Secrets of North Brother Island details how the General Slocum tragedy, the greatest non-military disaster in the country’s history that killed almost eleven hundred people, had occurred. The burning steamship pleasure boat, beached on North Brother Island instead of the better-equipped Riker’s Island, which was right beside it when the fire was discovered. Was it accidental or was it sabotage? Crane explores the possibilities—how it happened, who did it and why, the people who died, the few survivors, and more.
Crane uses insights, information, and facts from reliable sources to give The Secrets of North Brother Island a realistic feel.
Delve deeper into this historical fiction as Crane details everything about the Slocum disaster and the people and events surrounding it—occurrences that had their root causes as far back as the Civil War. For more information on The Secrets of North Brother Island log on to Xlibris.com.
