Predicto’s top six stars of 2010 are creating so much buzz, they may just make us all forget about last year’s trending topics.
New York (PRWEB) February 24, 2010
'You’re not a star unless everyone’s talking about you.' It’s a simple rule that’s been in place long before traditional tabloid journalism became complemented by the multi-media mélange of Hollywood blogs, viral video coverage and mobile Tweets. These days the hottest topics aren’t just on the tip of everyone’s tongues – they’re at the tip of millions of texting fingers. The popular SMS community at Snackable Media’s Predicto Mobile is particularly attuned to those A, B and even C-listers whose rise to fame is text-worthy. Predicto members cast SMS votes to predict the outcomes of events happening to the top celebrities in the headlines.
Barack Obama, Michael Jackson, Rihanna and Tiger Woods were the subject of many Predicto Mobile surveys in 2009. Yet the New Year is already ushering in a fresh crop of up-and-coming celebs. Predicto’s top six stars of 2010 are creating so much buzz, they may just make us all forget about last year’s trending topics.
Ke$ha: The party girl has Miley Cyrus’s little sister singing along and everyone substituting the letter S with dollar signs. Ke$ha (pronounced KEH-sha) has not only been compared to Lady Gaga, but is also replicating her success: she’s been atop the Billboard Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks with her single, “Tik Tok,” and she dethroned Susan Boyle when her first album, Animal, debuted at No. 1. So far in 2010, Predicto members have voted on questions such as “Since they recently partied together, will pop stars Ke$ha and Adam Lambert record a duet by 5/15?” So far, 54% of voting members say yes!
Kellan Lutz: Kellan Lutz rose to prominence on the teen scene when he starred alongside Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner in Twilight. After another go round as Emmett Cullen in the flick’s sequel, New Moon, Lutz raised his profile even higher by revealing his chiseled frame for the new Calvin Klein X underwear campaign.
Nicki Minaj: One of the hottest female MCs in the rap game — literally and figuratively! She’s enjoyed success ever since debuting her lyrical skills on MySpace, before eventually joining Young Money alongside Lil Wayne and Drake. After a Late Show with David Letterman performance with Robin Thicke and a Barbie-inspired music video with Mariah Carey, Minaj will make more noise with a new album set for release this year.
Justin Bieber: Superstar Usher is mentoring 15-year-old Justin Bieber. The teen heartthrob tackles the lead verse on the new version of “We Are the World.” He has appeared on numerous Bop and J-14 covers, and notched a top 10 hit with “Baby,” featuring Ludacris. Bieber also managed to indirectly cause a stampede at a mall and scored a performance spot on the April 10th episode of Saturday Night Live.
Snooki: Jersey Shore is one of MTV’s most popular shows, but none of its cast is as popular as Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. Snooki has made the talk show rounds, giving Jersey-style makeovers and educating the masses about the Shore, all while influencing Fashion Week hairstyles and looking for a guido to call her own. She’s certainly not shy about her desire to ditch the rest of the cast to star in her own reality spin-off.
Lady Antebellum: Taylor Swift isn’t the only country star with crossover appeal. This band — comprised of Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott — debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart and managed to hold off Lil Wayne as they claimed a second week on top. Their single, “Need You Now,” returned to the top 10 after their understated, yet much-talked-about Grammy performance of the song in February.
Expect the names above to show up regularly in the headlines. They’ll surely be appearing on Predicto.com and on a phone near you, as well as end-of-the-year lists and rankings.
