“Launching BizGreet when we did, rather than going through several additional versions before bringing it to market, has been essential to our growth as a company." - Mat Harris, CEO, BizGreet

Mat Harris, co-founder and CEO of Austin-based online marketing company BizGreet, will be part of this year’s RISE Conference in Austin, leading a session entitled “Sell Now, Build Later.” The session, to be held Thursday, Mar. 4, from noon-1:30 p.m., at the ND at 501 Studios (501 N. IH-35, 5th and Brushy entrance), will detail successful strategies for introducing minimally viable products into the market, based on BizGreet’s early successes as an online marketing innovator.
BizGreet, founded in 2008 in Austin, launched with an online marketing platform for mass-personalizing web-deliverable videos. Though the webmercial platform was initially released as a minimally viable product, in that it didn’t carry the level of customer relationship management tools that the current version does, it was still a welcome new product for businesses that wanted to better directly reach clients.
“Launching BizGreet when we did, rather than going through several additional versions before bringing it to market, has been essential to our growth as a company,” Harris said. “Not only did it allow us to define BizGreet’s brand of online marketing, but the early launch allowed us to involve customers in the product development process. The most recent version of BizGreet reflects feedback about functionality and features we received directly from those customers using earlier versions. Those customers, in turn, received a version of BizGreet essentially tailored to their needs.”
Today, BizGreet’s web application allows companies to not only create personalized web video streams for audiences of all sizes, but also to monitor campaign traffic more closely and access detailed individual and aggregate tracking information for video and website. BizGreet is working toward further integration with key customer relationship management tools, to launch in new versions as early as the second quarter of 2010.
BizGreet’s client roster includes the Rick Perry for Governor Campaign, Business Bank of Texas, and a number of other businesses. Last month, BizGreet announced funding from three Texas investment groups – the Central Texas Angel Network, Baylor Angel Network, and Concho Valley Angel Network – totaling $245,000.
“We’re proud to have the endorsement of these three Texas investment groups, who understand the strategy we’ve developed in building BizGreet,” noted Harris. “We’re looking forward to the chance to share our story with other entrepreneurs attending this year’s RISE conference, and we hope to inspire them to use minimally viable products as a springboard to their own innovations.”
According to the conference’s website, RISE was launched in 2007 as a uniquely Austin counterpart to the Kauffman Foundation’s first “Entrepreneurship Week USA.” Conceived by Roy and Bertrand Sosa, co-founders of NetSpend and the MPOWER Group, RISE was intended to be for, by, and about entrepreneurs. With its unique, decentralized format, RISE enables entrepreneurs of all stages, ages, and interests to meet and share ideas that inspire the entrepreneurial spirit. This year’s conference, taking place Mar. 1-5 in Austin, features sessions from entrepreneurs and other business experts based in Central Texas
