PacNet Services, a payment processing company, simplifies ACH and Check 21 processing with RAVEN Scanner, an all in one check imaging and presentment product that intuitively decides the best payment route for each check.

Payment processing company PacNet Services streamlines check processing by providing ‘smart scanning’ solutions. RAVEN Scanner, an intuitive all-in-one check imaging and presentment product, helps companies that receive high volumes of checks and money orders by consolidating check volumes for optimal pricing, better cash flow, and fewer returned items.

Eligible clients can use both the ACH processing stream and Check 21 to convert paper checks to images that can be presented electronically to PacNet for processing. Check 21 is a perfect solution for companies with large volumes of money orders, business checks, and those concerned about the 3 month chargeback liability associated with ACH. With Check 21, customers see their check number and the approved amount on their bank statement – and they have easy access to an image of their original check.

The RAVEN scanning system can be configured to automatically decide whether a check should be processed through Check 21 or the ACH system, routing the payment accordingly. There is no need for new bank accounts or agreements with multiple banks. PacNet’s scanning solution allows clients to enjoy ACH for optimum speed of payment with the flexibility of Check 21 for processing money orders and business checks.

With PacNet’s ‘smart scanning’, there is no need to contract with multiple processers for multiple payment types. Users benefit from streamlined processing, data security and fast access to funds in the same bank account they use today. The process is simple: Using a scanner provided by PacNet, clients scan batches of paper checks and money orders. The scanner captures both the MICR encoded account information and a perfect image of each check. When scanning is complete, sending a file of payment information to PacNet for deposit is effortless – no waiting, no wondering -- clients have confirmation of receipt within seconds, and payment is credited to their client account at PacNet within hours. Clients can choose to maintain a credit balance on their PacNet account or have funds settled to the bank account of their choice.

Brendan Mahar, Business Development Manager, explains the benefits of the RAVEN smart scanning solution: “We’ve been able to save merchants the time and money typically involved with contracting with two processers or using two payment streams. For example, a client that recently came on board with PacNet was previously using one payment processer for all of their consumer checks, but needed another, separate route to cash money orders and business checks. Thanks to the smart scanning feature, there is no need to deal with multiple processers; all payments are accepted through the same system and automatically routed through the proper channel for processing.”

PacNet’s RAVEN scanning solution has the added advantage of not being country dependant. Any approved company or organization that has a high volume of US checks to cash can rely on PacNet for remote imaging and deposit. The system is currently in use by mail order marketers and not-for-profit organizations in the United States, Canada, Netherlands, Brussels, UK, France and Switzerland.
