Aircraft manufacturer Embraer has chosen MAK's 3D visualization solution VR-Vantage as part of their Mission Planning Station (MPS) and Mission Debriefing Station (MDS) to support pilots training on the Super Tucano aircraft.

By adopting the 3D MÄK solution, the capacity of the Planning and Debriefing Stations to support the Super Tucano aircraft operation has been increased, providing greater visibility of the scenario surroundings and resulting in an increased situational awareness.

VT MÄK, (MÄK), a company of VT Systems Inc (VT Systems), today announced that Embraer has selected VR-Vantage, MÄK's new 3D visual solution, as part of their Mission Planning Station (MPS) and Mission Debriefing Station (MDS) to support pilots on the Super Tucano aircraft operation.

The MPS uses the 3D visuals to rehearse planned missions and to check intervisibility between aircraft and from aircraft and other entities. The MDS employs real aircraft data to playback missions for review and analysis.

Embraer has also signed an agreement with MÄK for additional product customization. These new features will be integrated into future releases of the product. The VR-Vantage 3D visualization solution consists of the next generation MÄK Stealth, MÄK's 3D information station; Vantage IG, a desktop image generator for viewing out-the-window scenes; and the VR-Vantage toolkit to extend the included visual applications or build new applications.

One of the key features of VR-Vantage is the Terrain Agility. Instead of having a single "native" format for terrain data, MÄK has ensured that VR-Vantage supports customers' pre-existing data. VR-Vantage is able to load traditional hand-modeled databases, Geographic Information System (GIS) source data, and connect to web-based servers for streaming elevation and imagery data. By leveraging OpenSceneGraph's file-loader plug-in architecture, VR-Vantage can also be tailored to support custom terrain formats.

VR-Vantage comes with a rich set of built-in content. The product includes Boston Dynamics' DI-Guy to animate human characters, a selection of DiSTI's GL Studio vehicle interfaces, IDV's SpeedTree for dynamic vegetation, and Sundog's SilverLining for weather effects and volumetric clouds. VR-Vantage also includes top quality 3D vehicle models that support damage representations and articulated parts.

"By adopting the 3D MÄK solution, the capacity of the Planning and Debriefing Stations to support the Super Tucano aircraft operation has been increased, providing greater visibility of the scenario surroundings and resulting in an increased situational awareness."

"We're delighted that our strategic customer, Embraer has chosen VR-Vantage. Despite a crowded field of competitors, Embraer's purchase validates VR-Vantage's value proposition. Clearly customers are seeing the value in all the pre-integrated components and content, as well as the product's Terrain Agility that finally addresses the chronic terrain database generation and correlation problem."
