Phoenix, Ariz. (PRWEB) February 24, 2010
Advantage Fitness Products (AFP), the leading providers of full-service fitness planning, design, supply and service, recently completed work on behalf of the University of Arizona (UA). The project was initiated to address the ever-increasing use of the facility among students and faculty, prompting the University's significant expansion focused on addressing this positive demand now and in the future.
AFP worked closely with UA during all phases of the project with an eye on both cost-effective solutions and environmental friendliness. The goal was to fundamentally enhance the current offering, anticipate and avoid potential pitfalls that might result in avoidable costs down the line, and providing "green" friendly solutions every step of the way. As a result of this "eco" emphasis, the facility is expected to achieve the esteemed LEED Gold certification. LEED is an organization devoted to providing standards for environmentally sustainable construction and developments, based on its official rating system.
"Student recreation facilities are among the most progressive and fastest growing segments in fitness. At the university level it's being paced by the increasingly active-lifestyles of today's college students and their aspirations to get or stay fit," said Bryan Green, President and CEO of AFP. "The University of Arizona represents one of the most-committed and successful collegiate student recreation programs in the nation, and we're proud to play a role in helping them realize their goals with the expansion of this facility".
Under the direction of Key Account manager Nels Nelson, AFP offered consulting expertise across several areas of the expansion, including functional design, equipment layout and supply, and facility upkeep. AFP also created a tailored preventative maintenance program for the center supported by its local team of certified technicians.
"AFP was an outstanding company to work with throughout the project. I found Nels Nelson's expertise and support to be invaluable," said Mark J. Zakrzewski, director of fitness, University of Arizona Department of Campus Recreation. "Every area from sales and delivery, to installation and service met or exceeded our expectations."
The UA Student Recreation project is the latest in a lineup of on-campus installations that AFP has successfully completed for leading University's such as Arizona State University, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, UCLA Athletic Training Center and USC's Lyons Center student recreation facility.
