Like many entrepreneurs, we were tired of waiting for the economy to recovery, so we decided to do something about it. We will create jobs by inspiring and collaborating with other entrepreneurs, while giving back to Kansas City.
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) February 24, 2010
On Wednesday, March 3, 2010, the first annual Think Big Kansas City entrepreneur’s conference will bring Chris Gardner to Kansas City. Gardner, whose true life story of perseverance and overcoming obstacles was memorialized by Will Smith in the Hollywood blockbuster, The Pursuit of Happyness, will deliver the Keynote address to all attendees at lunch, and present an award to a deserving entrepreneur who believes that hard work, resilience, believing in oneself and a little bit of luck can achieve life changing results.
Think Big Kansas City will offer entrepreneurs at all levels, investors, and area companies, a broad range of networking opportunities, informational workshops, and presentations. The one-day conference at the Kansas City Convention Center will also sponsor a business plan competition for up and coming entrepreneurs to have their ideas vetted by seasoned venture capitalists and other entrepreneurial experts. Startup companies will also display their best ideas, products or new ventures in a mini trade show format within the conference to publicize their activities and potentially attract investor interest.
"Despite the recent collapse of Wall Street and the uncertain economy, eighty-nine percent of Amercians say that capitalism is still the best economic system for our country. More than ever, we need to support entrepreneurs, startup companies and successful businesses in order to create more jobs in our community. And there simply is no better way that we can think of than to provide an educational and inspirational conference to encourage Kansas Citians to start where they are" said Herb Sih, Co-founder of Think Big Kansas City.
Tyler Prochnow, Co-founder of Think Big Kansas City added "We have created the program that we wished we would have had when we started out as entrepreneurs. Learning from experts from all over the country, the most up-to-date skills of what to do - and not do, are some of the most valuable lessons virtually every entrepreneur or business can benefit from. This conference is packed with information and it is especially critical for those business owners or entrepreneurs needing answers and needing direction right now."
Other presenters are top legal experts, bankers, marketers, angel investors, venture capitalists, media professionals, successful entrepreneurs and even two former Congressmen who will be discussing a bi-partisan cooperative approach from Capitol Hill on entrepreneurship and small business.
"Entrepreneurs create approximately three million jobs a year. Imagine if we could improve the historical odds of half of all new business ending in failure after just five years through this conference by just a little bit. That would mean thousands of additional jobs in the Midwest" commented Sih. "Why wait?"
The conference costs $50 - $295 to attend, with special rates for students, corporate sponsored tables, group rates and those recently affected by the economy. Tickets will be sold on the day of the event March 3rd, 2010.
