Veteran commercial real estate broker and investor Neil A. Katz announced the launch of his new Baltimore-based investment company, Neil A. Katz & Associates, LLC. The company's objective is to make strategic investments in local, private-sector Baltimore businesses and have a direct impact on their bottom line.

"I'm not your typical, arms-length investor who just puts money in a business and wishes it well," Katz explained. "I'm interested in making investments in small and medium-sized B2B businesses and helping them with strategic decisions that will facilitate their growth and success." Katz emphasized that he is not interested in running their businesses.

"A successful business needs the right people, the right connections, the right trusted advisors and, often, the right funding. That's where I can help, and that’s exactly why I started Neil A. Katz & Associates," he said.

A familiar name in the Baltimore business community, Katz was one of the city's leading commercial real estate brokers and investors for over 27 years. His new company is the culmination of decades of experience and a desire to follow what he calls his "true passion."

Katz considers himself to be a natural business builder. As a realtor who helped thousands of companies find commercial space in Baltimore, Katz often found himself making recommendations to his clients for bankers, lawyers, accountants, insurance agents, marketing people, and other professionals he trusted in the community. "I've always enjoyed bringing good people together with other good people. It's amazing what can happen when you make the right connections," Katz remarked.

Katz described businesses that would benefit most from his investment and connections. "Companies that are 'stalled' and need strategic advice to capitalize on their upside potential. Or companies that have broken parts that need to be fixed in order to create momentum again."

Over the years, Katz has served in an advisory capacity or on the board of directors of more than 20 Baltimore organizations. As he explained, "I have an enormous Rolodex of connections in this city. Through business, board work, community and volunteer work, I have been privileged to work with our community's smartest, most successful people -- CEOs and Presidents of Baltimore's leading corporations."

With his new investment business, Katz will be able to connect small or mid-sized corporations with a dynamic and trusted team of advisors with the analytical and technical skills that can help corporations reach their fullest potential. "This is true 'business building' at its finest," he concluded.

Katz has been a commercial real estate broker and investor in Baltimore since 1983. In 1989, he and his partners founded Corridor Commercial Real Estate Group LLC, which later merged and became Corridor Reznick LLC. In 2003, Katz left the day-to-day managerial tasks in order to focus on the company's strategic initiatives, business development, and crafting real estate investment deals. Katz is currently Chairman of the Foundation Board of Community College of Baltimore County.
