Unity Bank Names Raymond Kenwell Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer

Unity Bank, headquartered in Clinton, N.J., is pleased to announce the appointment of Raymond Kenwell to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. Kenwell, a 37-year veteran of the banking industry, will assume responsibility for both commercial and SMA lending.

Unity Bank President and Chief Executive Officer, James A. Hughes, stated, “We are pleased to welcome Ray to Unity. He has a proven track record in commercial banking and the knowledge and experience to grow our Commercial Banking division. He will be an asset to the Unity Bank team.”

Kenwell has an impressive history in the financial services industry. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Universal Interlock Corporation, Executive Vice President and Division Head of Lending at United Trust Bank and Vice President of the Special Assets Group at National Westminster Bank. He also held several lending positions at Heritage Bank and Somerset Trust Company.

About his appointment, Kenwell commented, “This is a great time to be back in banking. After several years in the retail industry, I am able to integrate my retail and banking experience to better understand customer needs in the communities we serve. Kenwell is a graduate of King’s College, Wilkes Barre, PA with a bachelor’s of science degree in Business Administration. He is active with St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen in Newark and is a former member of the Watchung Planning Board. He also served as a coach and Board member of the Watchung Soccer Association and on the Board of the Scotch Plains/Fanwood YMCA. Kenwell has resided in Watchung for 29 years and is the father of three adult children.

Unity Bank has branches in Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, Union and Warren counties in New Jersey, and Northampton County in Pennsylvania. The bank began as First Community Bank in 1991 with two branches and thirty employees. It now has over one hundred and sixty employees.
