Herndon, VA (PRWEB) February 24, 2010
Apex CoVantage, a leading global knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) provider of engineering solutions, today announced it has been awarded a contract from the State of Nebraska for Broadband Data Collection and Mapping Services. This project is part of the State Broadband Data and Development Program, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and focused on increasing broadband access and adoption through better data collection and broadband planning.
The goal of the project is to collect comprehensive and accurate state-level broadband data, develop state-level broadband graphical information system (GIS) maps, and supply the data to the National Telecommunications and Information Agency (NTIA) and the state of Nebraska, for the development and maintenance of a national broadband map. Apex will collect, analyze, store, retrieve, and report highly precise broadband datasets, maps and data in a financially sustainably way.
"We are delighted to have been awarded the contract for broadband data collection and mapping by the State of Nebraska administered by the Nebraska Public Service Commission (NPSC). This award proves that we have developed a solid field verification mapping methodology," said Shashi Gupta, President of Apex. "Additionally, we are very pleased that our proposed methodology resonated with the objectives established for the State Broadband Data and Development Program. We look forward to participating as a key player in the creation of a high-quality, accurate, field verified National Broadband Map."
Selected for its overall understanding of the Broadband Mapping Program, its proposed mapping methodology and the field verification techniques, Apex will be working with the NPSC and various providers of broadband service within Nebraska to gather the appropriate data.
"Through our extensive expertise and key technology solutions we have a keen understanding of the broadband mapping program especially in the areas of field survey/data verification, database modeling, and telecom," said Jay Pagadala, Director, Business Development, Apex. "We are currently working with various broadband mapping partners to deploy our field verification and data collection methodology based on the ProField technology. We look forward to collaborating with other commercial and federal groups on field verification services."
During the initial stages of this program in 2009, Apex presented its National Broadband Map methodology to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). Its methodology resonated strongly with the guidelines and regulations of the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the State Broadband Data and Development Program, a competitive, merit-based matching grant program to fund projects that collect comprehensive and accurate state-level broadband data, develop state-level broadband maps, aid in the development and maintenance of a national broadband map and fund statewide initiatives directed at broadband planning.
Apex's proposed broadband mapping methodology aligns with NTIA'S NOFA by offering intelligent database driven maps; providing field verification of provider supplied data; and developing a mapping methodology that meets the objectives of the NOFA and ARRA. Apex's particular competencies - and the source of the highest potential value to the broadband mapping program - lie in the areas of field survey/data verification, database modeling, cost modeling, and telecom experience. Many of the NOFA provisions directly or indirectly address Apex's competencies.
