Industry Leaders Now Offer Integrated Treatment and Return-to-Work Guidelines for Disability and Workers’ Comp Plus New California-Specific Platform

Reed Group, the world’s leading return-to-work experts, and The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), the leading medical professional society in occupational health, announced today that they have renewed and extended their partnership.

ACOEM’s Practice Guidelines Internet platform (APG-I) will be offered with Reed Group’s return-to-work durations guidelines on Reed Group’s MDGuidelines.com portal. Reed Group and ACOEM guidelines also will be available to software providers and content aggregators in easy-to-integrate XML-based format.

Reed Group and ACOEM also will roll out an upgraded APG-I Plus platform with state-specific guidelines. California guidelines will be available March 1. Other state guidelines will follow.

“We’re pleased because the market has embraced the benefits of combining duration and treatment guidelines,” says Reed Group President, Guidelines Jon Seymour, M.D. “ACOEM’s evidence-based approach is critical for prompt return to work, reduced costs and healthier employees. Our products highlight quality of content, and the integrated version is unmatched for workers’ compensation and disability case management.”

“ACOEM is thrilled at the continuing partnership,” says ACOEM Executive Director Barry Eisenberg. “Reed Group’s capabilities are critical to serving injured workers. Coupled with ACOEM’s commitment to evidence-based guidelines and state-of-the-art technology, we are committed to being leaders for musculoskeletal, evidence-based medicine and the systematic solution for this increasingly complex area.”

ACOEM’s Practice Guidelines and Reed Group’s return-to-work duration guidelines are the gold standard for effective treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses. Both sets of guidelines are evidence-based and physician-reviewed, reflecting best practices for returning employees to work. The guidelines are used by medical clinicians, case managers, claims professionals and employers to ensure consistent care, proper reimbursement and maximum productivity.

Reed Group will demonstrate the integrated guidelines on MDGuidelines.com at HIMSS 2010, booth #7965.
