Henderson, TX (PRWEB) February 27, 2010
Tornado season is coming.
And, heaven forbid, if you ever witness a tornado you would feel fortunate that you and your family have a safe REFUGE to walk into, underground. According to FEMA, “an underground shelter is the safest place during a storm.”
The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration says that in an average year over 800 tornadoes are reported in the United States alone, resulting in 80 deaths and over 1,500 injuries. They are, indeed, nature’s most violent storm. In fact, the damage path from a tornado can unravel the earth for up to 50 miles long and one mile in width.
Kelly Hall, maker of “THE REFUGE” tornado shelter, says his greatest joy in producing his underground fiberglass shelter is knowing that his product safely surrounds people during violent weather. We can estimate the value of our home and belongings, but we can never count the cost when it comes to our family.
“It makes me really happy when a customer calls me and tells me that ‘last night we had to get in our shelter and it looked safe, felt safe and completely held up to the elements that were swirling around us or over our head.’ It feels really good to be in business producing something that lasts and, in this case, actually helps protect human life,” Hall says.
“THE REFUGE” Underground Fiberglass Tornado Shelter comes in three sizes. The largest shelter, REFUGE 1, seats twelve to fifteen people and weighs 1,000 pounds. REFUGE 1 possesses an interior size of 6 feet, 10 inches high while its exterior is 12 feet, 6 inches long.
REFUGE 2 seats eight people and weighs 800 pounds. This shelter possesses an interior size of 6 feet, 6 inches high while its exterior is 12 feet, 6 inches long. The MINI REFUGE seats 6 people and weighs 600 pounds. While its interior size is 6 feet, 2 inches high, it stretches 9 feet, four inches in length.
REFUGE 1 has molded-in shelf space for emergency supplies such as water bottles, first aid kits, batteries, blankets, flashlights, battery-operated radios and cellular phones. The handrails and all-weather carpet, which is laid by hand, provide a safe feel and entrance.
Moreover, “THE REFUGE” Tornado Shelters have been engineered and tested to meet FEMA 320 Guidelines. All models are waterproof and feature a four to five hour installation, durable fiberglass construction, bench seating, well-ventilated (2) four-inch air vents, interior 3 point door locks, easy-open doors with a pneumatic cylinder and a ten-year limited warranty.
Hall says he enjoys the building process which makes “THE REFUGE” safe. And he adds that the most important part of the building process for his tornado shelter incorporates a high-level of craftsmanship by his employees.
“THE REFUGE is a tornado shelter built by careful design, sturdy materials and it is custom-made to deliver safety in the most horrendous weather conditions,” Hall says. “Safety is the hallmark of THE REFUGE. And our custom molding offers a unique, safe and spacious interior. After the storms have passed, I am happy knowing that our product has allowed families to be safe and feel secure.”
