Manchester based colour software specialist ChromaShare Ltd today announced the launch of a new product, CS Audit , to complement their Smart Client colour management technology.

CS Audit is a small independent software program which allows dyehouses to actively monitor and manage the status of their spectrophotometer and to provide their customers with a quality assurance indicator linked to every colour data file they supply.

CS Audit installs as an icon in the Microsoft Windows notification area of the computer attached to the spectrophotometer. At regular intervals it prompts the user to measure a set of calibrated ceramic tiles and then compare the results with the original tile data.

For instruments passing the test, the system qualifies this further by assigning a status description such as ‘excellent’, ‘acceptable’ or out of tolerance. The CS Audit icon has a colour indicator to show the instrument status. A program link to a web page enables historical data to be viewed in a web browser as a series of reports so that the operator of the instrument can see how stable the machine has been, and spot any drift in reliability. All this is achieved without interfering with the normal systems used by the dyehouse to read and manage colours, so the company’s existing software investment is protected.

Customers using the CS Smart Client are able to view the instrument status for any reading supplied to them by a CS Audit user. In addition the reporting facilities within CS Smart Client enable retailers and vendors to view the status of all instruments within their registered supply base in real time.

Since instrument status data is stored on the ChromaShare server it cannot be falsified, providing customer assurance. Also this means that the readings provided to the customer can be made using the dyehouse’s existing systems by exporting to one of the normal colour file types as usual.

Dr Andrew Bennett, Managing Director of ChromaShare, said “This is a real win-win breakthrough for the industry as it will generate renewed confidence in the instrumental data used routinely in so many dyehouses round the world. We believe that CS Audit is a major step in enabling the industry to move away from the slow and inefficient system of shipping swatches around the globe.”

ChromaShare Ltd., a UK based colour speciality firm, is focused on the advancement and application of technology in colour management, and creator of ChromaShare Technology, a breakthrough web based solution.

ChromaShare Technology is a complete, fully integrated, digital colour management system that enables users across industries to make quality decisions on colour, at any location, instantly making this colour information available for global production.

ChromaShare Technology provides great flexibility and ease of use, eliminates the need for manual file swapping between systems, and creates a more reliable means for storing and sharing critical colour data.
