With all the doom and gloom being heard about the economy, no one knew what to expect this year. The last minute reduction of size by The Motorcycle Dealer Expo Show management, caught everyone off guard. The exhibitors were moved into new booths and the entire show was moved from three buildings into one. With snow storms locking up the Midwest and East Coast areas, many attendees had to cancel their show plans. In spite of all this there were many success stories emerging from the show. One such success stories was from a new company, Time Rider and their Shtuff For Bikers product line.
“What is The Right Shtuff’?” was heard many times during the course of the 3 day Motorcycle Dealer Expo. That big banner above the huge cowboy skull in flames, Time Rider logo, appeared to draw visitor after visitor. This black, yellow and red banner emblazoned with “The Right Shtuff” couldn’t help but catch your eye. So for about the hundredth time that day the question was asked and Capt. Larry Phillips explained the benefits of having products designed specifically for what those dealers’ customers do, ride a motorcycle.
“There are products for beach goers and skiers, but they are totally inadequate for bikers and unless you ride you wouldn’t understand.” Said Capt Phillips “We ride, so we know the needs of fellow riders and Shtuff For Bikers is the only product line that addresses those specific needs.” Walking around the booth one couldn’t help but notice all the people holding the products, reading the labels and laughing. However, after picking up a bottle of “Old Fart Spray” pain reliever, you start to understand the chuckling. You also understand all the exclamations you’ve been hearing of, “Oh, I’ve got to get this for…”.
While watching an aluminum or plastic demonstration of “Knob Polish”, you might hear, Vance Lane, the founder of Time Rider, talk about something he calls “Man-screen”. He goes on to say “Shtuff For Bikers has the only sun screen that takes into account, the way a man thinks; “My skin’s burning, hence, I need sun protection.” Lane says, “The ingredients in the Red Neck Repellent man-screen; mitigate damage already done, cool the skin and provide a 30 SPF non-greasy, non-sticky, protective layer.”
The products are such an innovation in the motorcycle industry that the polish was featured in the Dealer News Magazine at the show and Capt Larry Phillips was interviewed by both Steel Horse TV and 2 Wheel Thunder TV.
