The key takeaway from this interview was that making something easy to use doesn’t necessarily equal meeting the needs of an end user
Portland, OR (PRWEB) March 3, 2010
Sheetal Dube, user experience consultant at Evantage Consulting, will present “The Bag Lady” as part of Ignite Portland at the Bagdad Theater on March 3, 2010. Ignite Portland and other Ignite events in cities across the U.S. give presenters five minutes and 20 PowerPoint slides to deliver an enlightening message.
Dube’s presentation will focus on user research she conducted as part of a medical device design project. She spoke to 20 heart patients who might need the device, learned about their home environment and observed how they manage their health. One user, in particular, stood out. A self-proclaimed “Bag Lady,” the woman looked at the device prototypes and gave some powerful insights to the research questions.
For her, it wasn’t enough to just have a device that worked. She wanted a device that made her feel strong. “The key takeaway from this interview was that making something easy to use doesn’t necessarily equal meeting the needs of an end user,” explains Dube.
Evantage Consulting combines qualitative research, like user experience interviews, with quantitative techniques to reveal ways to make products more accessible and useful to diverse audiences.
