Barrett will help publishers create new value from their online content

Perfect Market, Inc. has appointed new media executive Robertson Barrett to the newly created position of Chief Strategy Officer. Barrett brings to Perfect Market more than 14 years’ experience managing online ventures, including senior positions at Tribune Interactive, Time Inc. (time.com), Disney (abcnews.com), and Primedia, Inc. (Channel One Interactive).

“Rob’s proven ability to drive revenue for interactive properties makes him a tremendous asset for online publishers seeking to unlock the value of their large content libraries by better serving all users,” said Julie Schoenfeld, President and CEO of Perfect Market.

“In my experience, online publishers make money from just a small fraction of their valuable content,” said Barrett. “Perfect Market has a unique way of solving this problem where everyone wins – publishers, ad networks and users seeking targeted content.”

Barrett most recently was Executive Vice-President of Tribune Interactive, where he managed the operations and strategic development of online properties in 40 U.S. markets, including latimes.com, chicagotribute.com, baltimoresun.com, and all Tribune news, entertainment and TV sites. He also was previously Vice-President and General Manager of The FeedRoom Inc., an Internet news venture backed by NBC, where he oversaw the development of video-on-demand for NBC, Tribune Company, CBS and local station groups. Barrett began his career as a staff writer for the News & Observer of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Barrett holds a BA from Duke University and a Masters from Harvard University.
