Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) March 2, 2010
Nearly 250,000 students nationwide have been put back on track for graduation with a web-based, interactive instruction and learning management system from the digital education company Education2020 (e2020). Today, e2020 announced the release of three new multimedia courses developed for high school students:
“According to the report Easing the Transition to High School: An Investigation of Reform Practices to Promote Ninth Grade Success, of the students who eventually drop out of high school, over 60% of them failed at least 25% of their credits in ninth grade. Education2020 provides educational access to high school students before they drop out. These newest courses are just the right mix of relevant, rigorous and engaging instruction that help ninth graders make meaningful academic gains towards graduation,” said Gene Storz, Chief Learning Officer, Education2020. Fostering critical thinking skills with higher-order Bloom’s Taxonomy learning domains is embedded throughout the lessons. He adds, “If we can help set them up for a successful freshman year, then we know they are more likely to stay in school and graduate.”
Students have been recovering lost credits and graduating with e2020 since 1998. “With nearly 50 web-based courses in math, science, English, social studies and electives, we have seen tremendous success with students who might normally give up. We are finding that they are now performing as well as their peers who learn in a traditional classroom,” said Storz. And these courses are only the beginning. “We are experiencing unprecedented development success,” said Lori Ventura, Director of Curriculum. “Our goal is to continually develop content that is current, relevant, rigorous and engaging. We work closely with states and districts to not only produce or update courses that they need, but to deliver to them within 4 – 6 months.” The next state-specific course, Texas History, is scheduled for release in later this month.
