Boise, ID (PRWEB) March 15, 2010
H&W Computer Systems, Inc. (H&W) today released its new JES2Web software, which allows users to receive JES2 reports from the mainframe in PDF or text format, e-mail the reports, and manage and reuse the data on a PC.
"JES2Web provides companies with the means to reduce the costs associated with printing and distributing mainframe reports, and it allows users to have JES2 data in electronic formats that are useful on a PC" said Joe Burns, Senior Product Manager for H&W. "It's an affordable solution for small- and medium-sized businesses that want these capabilities without the expense and complication of large content management systems."
JES2Web allows companies to choose the delivery method that works for them. Technical staff can schedule selected JES2 reports to be automatically created and e-mailed directly to chosen recipients. Or, using the browser-based interface from any PC, technical and nontechnical users can manage the JES2 data, create custom reports from certain jobs or job elements, choose a format, and e-mail the reports to selected recipients. Users and recipients can print the reports to distributed printers, reuse the data in PC applications, and save the reports locally for future reference.
"JES2Web provides flexibility and ease of use for our nontechnical users," said Hugh Rayburn, Systems Programmer II, from Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC 20) in San Antonio. "JES2Web meets all the requirements of our user community for a web-based printing tool. It provides PDF or TXT options for viewing reports on the JES2 spool, the ability to monitor the JES2 input queue for waiting/active jobs, and the ability to print without 3270 connections. JES2Web provides secure report viewing, and it doesn't have to be installed on the desktop.
"Our users mostly just need their JES2 reports in a format they can use and store on their PC or local network, which JES2Web gives them," continued Rayburn. "If they want to manage their JES2 reports or create custom reports of certain job elements, JES2Web's interface makes simple work of that, too."
"JES2Web was the right software for us because it allowed us to reduce the costs of distributed printing of JES2 reports to 2,000-plus users around a large geographical area," said Wayne Parker, Component Director, ESC 20. "It also allowed us to replace the product we had been using, which was more expensive and had fewer features."
JES2Web installs on a mainframe and provides secure access to controlled JES2 data for any number of users via a standard web browser. JES2Web reduces printing and distribution costs for JES2 reports, curbs the time that technical resources need to coordinate report delivery, and gives users the freedom to create customized reports.
