Long acknowledged as the leading resource of news, expert information, and products supporting the olive oil industry, The Olive Oil Source has launched a completely renovated and updated website in response to the expanding needs of the rapidly growing olive oil trade and consumer markets.

The website offers a refreshing new look, improved organization and navigation, extensive content about all aspects of the olive oil industry written by experts in the field, ever-growing directories of events, competitions, and self-registered olive oil companies around the world, and the industry’s most complete online wholesale store. First created by John and Lisa Deane in 1998, the website’s organic growth has been replaced with seamless organization and simple navigation, based on state-of-the-art Web 2.0 technology that will create new opportunities for online collaboration and interactivity among olive oil community members.

“The Olive Oil Source was already seen as the “go-to” site for everything about olive oil, but the redesign gives users much easier access to the massive amount of information already compiled. Most importantly, we can easily update and expand the content to keep pace with the industry’s growth”, said Antoinette Addison, co-owner with her husband, Shawn.

“We felt a responsibility to take the site to its next level. It was clear from user feedback that the industry relies on us as the central source for the latest and most accurate information about olive oil and products”, Addison added.

With over 3,000 pages of information, resources, current news and events, and products, the site features:

  •     State-of-the-art information on every aspect of the olive oil business, from how to set up a business to how to taste and enjoy olive oil written by leaders in the field.
  • Global olive oil events and competitions displayed in calendar, list, and world map formats.
  • An ever-growing directory of self-registered olive oil related companies and people around the world.
  • A database of questions and answers, and an invitation to pose unique questions to The Olive Oil Source’s panel of experts comprised of some of the top names in the business.
  • The Olictionary™, a complete dictionary of olive oil related terms.
  • A large compilation of articles, newsletters, and recipes written by experts over the past decade.
  • An online wholesale store with hundreds of products ranging from glass bottles and spouts to high-end milling equipment.
  • Custom labeled gourmet products for restaurants, retail shops, corporate gifts, and special occasions such as weddings.

The publication of a monthly newsletter will start in April. The consumer retail store is expected to launch in June. Later in the year, new interactive functionality will be added including online industry forum participation, classified ads, and active user input.

“The initial industry response has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic”, said Shawn Addison. “Some of the biggest companies and pioneers in the industry have already registered in the business directory. It is a real testament to how important they believe being part of The Olive Oil Source is to their business and how indispensable the site is to the industry’s growth. When we emailed the news of our launch to previous customers, over 50% visited our site the same day - an unheard of response rate in the marketing world”, added Addison.

After an 18-month endeavor of restructuring and rewriting, user response to the site has been gratifying. "The re-launched website looks GREAT! Congratulations on a huge accomplishment – word is spreading throughout the olive community.", said Liz Tagami, President, Tagami Foods Division of Tagami International, LLC.

“I want to acknowledge the incredibly hard-working team that labored to complete the project”, said Antoinette Addison. “We engaged the expert advice and skills of authors/editors Nancy Ash, Caroline Beck, Laurie Koc, graphic designers Michaela Kalff and Laurel Segel of KS Creative, and last but certainly not least, the extraordinary technical prowess of Mary and Jean-Pierre Dautricourt,” she added.
