C.A.R.E., (Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers) a trade association established in 1985 by representatives from resort properties across the nation and around the world who found that by exchanging vacation inventory among themselves, they were better able to satisfy their owners with increased vacation opportunities, announced that funds raised at the Fall, 2009 San Diego conference were more than $13,000, the highest amount yet reached by the organization.
The St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital of Memphis, TN received 5% of the funds as a result of the auction. David Kerr, Managing Director of The Trades Publishing, was selected from a list of donors that contributed items to be auctioned and in turn his charity selection (St. Judes) was selected to receive these proceeds.

C.A.R.E. is a non-profit organization, so the funds raised from the silent/live auction allow us to advertise C.A.R.E. in industry publications such as Developments magazine and Resort Trades. ”
In addition to advertising space in The Trades publications, items up for auction included: gift cards to Macy’s and the Olive Garden, weeks at fabulous and hard-to-get destinations, three - 1 year memberships to WIN (Women in the Industry), complimentary transactions through Merlin’s IMS System, and even a bushel of apples!
The funds raised at auction are used to advertise to help attract new companies to C.A.R.E. in order to increase the membership base and the members’ networking opportunities.
