“Rustle the Leaf” Springs Back Into Action with Fun and Educational Tools and Materials

"More than ever, it's important for children to be interested and involved in environmental causes, and Citra Solv is happy to be a part of that process."

Just in time for Earth Day, Rustle the Leaf, Nature’s Official Spokesleaf™, has returned with a free new lesson plan for educators. The plan has been sponsored by Connecticut-based Citra Solv, LLC, a leading manufacturer of naturally derived, environment-friendly household and personal care products.

Rustle the Leaf and his pals are back by popular demand, after a three year hiatus. "We thought Rustle should be around to help commemorate the fortieth anniversary of Earth Day," said Steve Zeitler, co-founder of Citra Solv, LLC. "More than ever, it's important for children to be interested and involved in environmental causes."

The newest lesson plan, entitled “Renewable is Do-able,” focuses on renewable resources, including renewable energies (i.e. solar and wind power), and renewable, biological materials. Both a lesson plan and lesson insert into the Rustle the Leaf Earth Day book are available for free downloading, complete with comic, word search puzzle and matching game.

As a company that manufactures and distributes products made from renewable resources, Renewable is Do-able was a “natural” choice, Zeitler said. “We believe that every little activity, every comic strip punch line, every coloring page can help establish a life-long awareness for environmentally responsible behaviors.”

Citra Solv is also running a promotion on the Rustle website for educators, offering the opportunity to win exclusive, limited edition Rustle the Leaf Earth Day posters.

About Rustle the Leaf:
“Rustle the Leaf”™ began as an environmental comic strip that was published from November, 2004 through July, 2007 by Citra Solv, LLC. It soon evolved into a full scale educational tool. The Rustle the Leaf website is filled with free Rustle comic strips, games, coloring pages, activity pages, lesson plans and links to environmental education resources. Organizations of every shape, size and political stripe have requested permission to use and/or publish the strips. It has been featured on over 70 Sierra Club Chapter and Group web sites, on the home pages of the U.S. and Canada Green Party web sites, on several college and university web sites, and on hundreds of environmental, natural products and science web sites around the world.

The Rustle website also offers a downloadable Earth Day book. The free publication offers nine topics, including the new Renewable is Do-able lesson plan, as well as a full color poster.

There are numerous “Rustle” projects and free downloads available, including E cards, wallpaper, coloring pages, games, activity pages, posters, book downloads, links to environmental education resources and more.

The Rustle the Leaf web site contains no commercial messages or offers for Citra-Solv-branded products. The Rustle initiative was part of the company’s long-term strategy to help children develop environment-conscious behaviors in their formative years.
