With tightening budgets and the push to deliver more with less, organizations are looking for more effective ways to train their people
Portland, OR (Vocus) March 3, 2010
EclipseSource, a leading provider of Eclipse runtime products and services, announced today that it will kick off an expanded virtual training program for Eclipse opens source technolgy with two free online tutorials. The tutorials will introduce the Eclipse OSGi runtime technologies and the Rich Ajax Platform, a platform for single sourcing desktop and web applications. This move is in response to the general trend of mainstream businesses seeking efficient means of Open Source technology adoption.
"What we are seeing is that companies are searching for ways to gate their open source technology adoption," said Jochen Krause, CEO, Eclipse Source. "As more and more enterprises are evaluating and selecting Eclipse and other open source technologies for their tools and applications, they are looking for professional and innovative training and development products."
Virtual classroom courses allow students to get the benefit of fully interactive, hands-on, instructor-led training without the additional overhead and expense of travel. The courses are delivered via the Web using screen-sharing, voice and video.
“With tightening budgets and the push to deliver more with less, organizations are looking for more effective ways to train their people,” said Jeff McAffer, EclipseSource’s CTO and co-lead of the Eclipse Equinox and Runtime projects. “Our virtual classroom program provides an additional training option that delivers the same high quality instruction with greater flexibility.”
EclipseSource will continue to offer in-class training through its open enrollment programs and through on-site customer courses and workshops. EclipseSource will also continue to deliver in-class and virtual courses as a registered training organization in the Eclipse Training Series, a community training initiative organized by the Eclipse Foundation. The Rich Ajax Platform tutorial will be held on April 29th, followed by the OSGi Jumpstart tutorial on May 20th. Students may sign up online on the EclipseSource web site.
