CGX promotes technology for customers through multi-faceted marketing campaign

Consolidated Graphics offers customers much more than print. We partner with our customers to provide them with comprehensive solutions to their marketing needs.

Consolidated Graphics, Inc., NYSE:CGX, one of the nation’s leading sheet-fed, web and digital commercial printing companies, has been recognized as the top Houston Business-to-Business Marketer for 2009 by the American Marketing Association’s Houston Chapter. CGX was quick to recognize a market preference toward digital printing and on-demand solutions, and as a result adjusted its marketing approach and service offering in order to best address customers’ needs.

“Our customers were demanding more sophisticated print technologies and we were being asked to solve fundamental marketing issues of our clients. As we began to meet those needs, the definition of a traditional printing company no longer defined Consolidated Graphics. Consolidated Graphics offers customers much more than print. We partner with our customers to provide them with comprehensive solutions to their marketing needs,” said Aaron Grohs, Consolidated Graphics’ Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

Recognizing early on that digital printing was going to disrupt the way business is done in the commercial printing industry, CGX undertook an aggressive investment strategy to build its digital printing capabilities. The company invested over $80 million developing a world-leading digital platform that incorporates web-to-print technology, and implemented a multi-faceted marketing campaign that includes special events, social media and online marketing.

Through landmark events like emerge, a two-day conference for top customers, and its personalized 2009 annual report, CGX demonstrated its commitment to innovation. “Now, more than ever, we’ve started to integrate the same technologies into our marketing campaigns that we provide to our customers. Receiving this award shows the powerful impact of the marketing solutions we use to grow our business and provide to our customers,” Grohs added. CGX has also placed an emphasis on customer engagement, implementing company blogs at http://www.consolidatedgraphics.blogspot.com and http://www.printingindutrymergers.blogspot.com, and is actively maintaining a Twitter account (@cgxprint) where customers and prospects can keep up with the latest company developments.

The award was determined by a vote of AMA Houston members combined with votes from a panel of local marketing and business leaders and educators. As a winner in its Business-to-Business Marketer category, Consolidated Graphics will compete against other category winners in AMA Houston’s Marketer of the Year program, where a panel of marketing leaders from outside the Houston area will review entries to select a 2009 Marketer of the Year. The winner will be announced March 15th, 2010 at the Alley Theatre.
