St. Louis Transportation, the limousine and corporate travel provider, today announced commitment to a major "green" initiative that will reduce the immediate and long-term environmental impact of the company.

"We're serious about reducing greenhouse gas emissions in every facet of our business," says Martin Zlatev, owner of St. Louis Transportation. "We have green initiatives for our fleet and for our facilities."

Zlatev points out that reducing his firm's carbon footprint not only addressed the fuel consumption of his vehicles, but also electricity use, purchasing of supplies, disposing of waste and employee travel.

The company enlisted the expertise of Green Ride Global, which specializes in assisting companies in Environmental Management, then monitors the progress of the plan.

"Our entire staff has embraced our decision to be clean and green," Zlatev says. "Although we will award incentives, it is rewarding to see that our earth-friendly initiative is already generating excitement and commitment, from office staff to chauffeurs."

The St Louis Transportation plan includes adding hybrid vehicles to the fleet. An immediate impact has come from extensive chauffeur training on driving techniques to boost fuel-efficiency, including a new "no idling" policy.
The firm will retro-fit its facilities with energy-saving lighting. Immediate environmental protection office procedures include mandatory double-sided printing and recycling programs.

"We hope to reduce our greenhouse emissions by 20% in the next five years," Zlatev adds. "And we will spread the word to the 14,000 other limousine companies in the US. We feel that the least we can do, is to do the most we can for the earth."
