London, UK (PRWEB) March 9, 2010
BigHand, a leading provider of voice technology for the NHS, has today announced the integration with Gateway Computing’s WinDIP Enterprise, an NHS Electronic Document Management System utilised at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Designed specifically for the NHS, WinDIP Enterprise is in use with over 300 installations in the UK, including over 60 within the NHS, covering departmental document management requirements as well as full Trust wide roll outs. Gateway Computing’s WinDIP Enterprise software is used by Trusts to resolve document management issues inherent to the Trust. With the integration with BigHand, up to date audio files are now uploaded instantly into the electronic document management solution, providing complete access to clinicians to refer to.
Paul Curley, Consultant Surgeon at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust commented;
“We implemented BigHand in 2007 and it has been a big success within the Trust. Our strategy is to develop an electronic record rich in functionality. One of the first successes has been the ability to add dictations from BigHand to the WinDIP document management environment allowing colleagues access to dictations within the relevant case notes prior to it being typed. This is the sort of integration that systems need to deliver to realise their potential”.
Scott Wilce, Sales Director at Gateway commented;
“Gateway are delighted to have worked with BigHand to jointly provide the integration between our two applications. The integration allows the Trusts to automatically capture the BigHand files directly into WinDIP Enterprise, silently and efficiently in the background. The “front end” clinical staff then have the full benefit of these files being available to them when providing front line clinical care.”
BigHand software is now used by over 1000 professional and public sector organisations globally incorporating over 100,000 users, helping to facilitate the instant submission of dictations coupled with report tracking, priority settings and enhanced sound quality. These factors help to eliminate administrative delays and are becoming essential for Trusts to meet key national targets. BigHand software also offers a Server-Based Speech Recognition module, complete with medical dictionaries, allowing clinicians to convert voice-to-text automatically if desired (further streamlining costs).
