Thwapr (http://www.thwapr.com), the mobile video sharing platform, announces the appearance of Duncan Kennedy at the Video 2.0 program to be held this weekend (March 4 -7, 2010) at The Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada. Kennedy, Thwapr’s chief operations officer, will be discussing hardware and software products related to short-length video production.
Kennedy is a leader in the mobile media industry and has more than 15 years experience building successful products and companies. In addition to his role at Thwapr, Kennedy is concurrently president of Mobigardens Corporation, a producer and distributor of made-for-mobile movies. In 2006, the company created "Mobifest," the world's largest independent mobile film festival.
Previously, Mr. Kennedy was employed at Apple Computers where he managed the QuickTime product line, Apple’s flagship multimedia architecture. In this capacity he initiated Apple's QuickTime for Windows product, the most widely distributed software product in Apple history. While at Apple, Mr. Kennedy also produced many of the early Webcasts, including the first Internet productions of The Grammy’s, the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Awards, and the Sundance Film Festival.
The Banff Centre is one of Canada's most well-known event centers for digital media. The Banff New Media Institute, in conjunction with industry partner Digital Alberta, will present the weekend-long workshop designed to teach the basics of short-length video and its uses for social media applications.
Registration for the Video 2.0 program is open to the public (with discounted fees offered to students and Digital Alberta members and affiliates). More information is available at http://www.banffcentre.ca/programs/program.aspx?id=1015.
