Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) March 8, 2010 -Steel Vine Investments, a Chicago-
based hedge fund, today introduced a weekly newsletter that provides expert insights into the commodities market. The newsletter will focus on a different commodity each week.
"Now more than ever, political, fundamental, currency and economic factors are having an increasingly dramatic effect upon global commodity prices. I envision these newsletters providing content-rich nuggets that not only generate a spark for discussion but also allow for Steel Vine to share its unique outlook on the markets via its option-selling trading strategy," said Spencer Patton, founder and chief investment officer for Steel Vine Investments, the investment manager of the Steel Vine Investment Fund, LP.
The fund has had seven consecutive months of gains, and so far this year Steel Vine has substantially outperformed the S&P 500.
The fund's objective is to use a proprietary options strategy developed by Patton to generate returns in the equity, commodity and currency markets.
"Unlike other options strategies that attempt to speculate on both the speed of price movement and price direction, Steel Vine's approach only looks to identify where different market prices will not go, and sell options at that price level. This way, the portfolio can benefit from market movements that are up, down or sideways," Patton said.
Patton is regularly quoted in Dow Jones Newswires about the various market movements in a variety of commodities, such as oil, cotton, cocoa, coffee, orange juice, soybeans, etc. He also has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal and in the current issue of Futures magazine.
