Thriller writer bases newest release "Danger in the Tulip Fields" on a dirty secret regarding the war on terror.

We need to become healthy and strong. It is recognized that exercise is number one in the battle against many diseases. We cannot concentrate on the 'mirror-image' only. We need to become healthy and strong from the inside out. If we do this as adults, we become powerfully positive and effective role models for our children.

Long Island-based, critically-acclaimed suspense writer, Patti Ann Bengen, is back with a vengeance with her newest release "Danger in the Tulip Fields." Authors often get their inspiration from current events, and this author proves it by taking the reader to the Middle East to expose one of the dirtiest secrets of the war on terror: how the Afghan drug trade bankrolls terrorists. "Despite US and international efforts, Afghanistan remains a major illegal-drug producer and exporter," says Patti Ann Bengen; whose third romantic thriller focuses directly on the links between terrorism and the drug trade.

Set against a post 9/11 political backdrop, Ms. Bengen's high-action, suspenseful thriller deals with today's headlines, including the war on terror, the war in Afghanistan and the war on drugs. "One of the purposes of my book was to bring attention to the horrors of the narco trade," says Ms. Bengen. "So long as drugs are a major player in Afghanistan's economy, no amount of blood or treasure will save this fragile, medieval society, with all its warlords and clans, from the murderous Taliban."

Ms. Bengen was recently recognized by Cambridge Who's Who, and actively sponsors women in war-torn countries around the globe through Women for Women International, and sponsors The Shade Tree Women's Shelter in Las Vegas.

However, there is another side to this author that continues helping women to become empowered. She teaches Nia, a life-changing and powerful threefold cardio dance program, and has added Zumba, Zumba Gold, Zumbatomic for kidz at the Nia Center of LINY, located in Wading River, New York. "We need to become healthy and strong. It is recognized that exercise is number one in the battle against many diseases. We cannot concentrate on the 'mirror-image' only. We need to become healthy and strong from the inside out. If we do this as adults, we become powerfully positive and effective role models for our children."

Patti Ann Bengen is a member of Romance Writers of America, The San Diego Writers and Editors Guild, The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, The East End Arts Council and Women for Women International. In addition to being an author, entrepreneur and philanthropist, this energetic lady has worked in the music, medical, fitness and beverage industries.

Ms. Bengen has been a frequent guest on radio and TV with her first two popular romantic thrillers, "New Beginnings" and "The Devil's Dance." All three novels are available for purchase in paperback and e-format at Amazon.com.
