We implement re-keying with automated recovery features in case of a database failure
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 8, 2010
Relational Database Consultants Inc. (RDC) unveiled the version 6.2 release of the Encryption Wizard for Oracle which now ships with intelligent re-keying features to offer another layer of security against data theft. The Encryption Wizard is a transparent database encryption software suite that communicates with the Oracle RDBMS and is offered as a low-cost alternative to Oracle's own ASO option. Re-keying is a process used in database encryption to change the encryption keys for a given set of data on a periodic basis so cryptography cannot be performed to steal keys. Standards such as PCI and HIPPA now specify a key-lifecycle as a best security practice for database encryption.
"With re-keying implemented", says RDC lead developer David Singer, "the Encryption Wizard will enable security managers and CSO's to bring their sensitive Oracle data to compliance without the high costs usually associated with such efforts."
Users can either perform re-keying through the Encryption Wizard GUI interface or using a scheduler, calling the Encryption Wizard API. "We implement re-keying with automated recovery features in case of a database failure," added Singer. "Re-keying can take time for large amounts of data and without intelligent recovery data loss can occur."
The Encryption Wizard for Oracle has been successfully implemented at a number of fortune 500 companies. Free 30-day evaluations of the Encryption Wizard are available for download at:
