Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 9, 2010

On Saturday, March 13th - Sunday, March 14th, CrossFit LA will present the 2010 SOCAL SECTIONALS, the first qualifying event on the road to the CrossFit Games. More than 200 athletes will converge on UCLA's Drake Stadium in front of 2000+ spectators to complete a grueling and near impossible physical challenge in hopes of securing a spot at the 2010 CrossFit Games and a shot at the title of "World's Fittest Man" and "World's Fittest Woman." Drake Stadium will look like old school Sparta with 90 CrossFit businesses (from above Santa Barbara all the way down to South Orange County) expected to attend.

CrossFit is currently the fastest growing movement in fitness with over 3000 affiliates opening in the past 3 years- over 100 in California alone- since the blockbuster movie 300 brought the "Spartan Workout" to the mainstream. CrossFit affiliates can be found on every continent and as far off as Afghanistan and Iraq. CrossFit has become the primary training program for many police academies, military special ops, and elite athletes all over the world. Also known as the "sport of fitness," the goal of CrossFit is to create the quintessential athlete; equal parts gymnast, sprinter, and Olympic weightlifter.

Of the 200 competitors on March 13-14th, only 20 men and 20 women will go on to compete at the 2010 CrossFit Games. Last year over 150,000 people worldwide tried to get in! In addition we'll be featuring separate events all day for children to demonstrate how fitness can be fun.

The 2010 SOCAL SECTIONALS will take place:
Saturday March 13th: 8am-6pm
Sunday March 14th: 9am-3pm
