March 9, 2010 – Lexington, KY – Small and midsize businesses (SMB) of less than 1,000 employees are the fastest growing segment of the managed print services market, according to research conducted by Photizo Group.

Small and midsize businesses (SMB) of less than 1,000 employees are the fastest growing segment of the managed print services market, according to research conducted by Photizo Group. And the phenomenon encompasses MPS markets around the world. For Germany and the UK, over half of the opportunity is with firms with less than 1,000 employees. In France, over 40 percent of the MPS opportunity is with firms of less than 1,000 employees. The US, which has a slightly more MPS mature market, has an even greater penetration and growth of MPS into SMB. However, as the MPS ecosystem evolves in Europe, that region is expected to rapidly catch up.

The information comes from the groundbreaking MPS Decision Maker Trackerê study, the only ongoing measurement of MPS decision makers’ actions and MPS engagements. The study is now entering its third year of tracking the dynamic MPS market. Since its launch in 2008, the MPS Decision Maker Tracking study has surveyed over 1,400 MPS decision makers in North America and Europe. The accumulated research provides the richest database of MPS engagements available today.

“While large organizations have certainly embraced MPS, it would be a mistake to assume SMBs are not going in that direction as well. In fact, it’s quite the opposite, according to our ongoing field research,” said Ed Crowley, CEO and Senior Partner of the Photizo Group. “The information in the MPS Tracking Study comes from actual data, not opinion. We gather and utilize hard data to develop an in-depth understanding of the real market situation.

Crowley continued, “The various geographic markets must be looked at individually because the spectrum of MPS involvement varies. By lumping markets together, such as in Europe, you don’t get a true picture. And while IT spending has declined, one can’t draw the conclusion that MPS adoption is also dropping. There are many factors to consider when building an accurate picture of the MPS marketplace.”
