At Sunday’s 82nd Annual Academy Awards® all eyes were on the evening’s fashion. Oscar presenter Kristen Stewart, of the "Twilight" series, made numerous best-dressed lists with a custom midnight blue silk satin organza gown from FIDM Alumna Monique Lhuillier. “I didn’t know how to cut and sew before I came to FIDM,” says the fashion school grad, who has dressed stars such as Drew Barrymore and Katie Holmes.
Barbra Streisand, who presented Kathryn Bigelow with the Oscar for Best Director, stepped on stage in a custom made tuxedo by FIDM Graduate Randolph Duke. Duke, who has dressed past Oscar winners Hilary Swank and Angelina Jolie, created clothing for Streisand's recent concert tour and also designed her look for the 2003 Oscars.
Actress Virginia Madsen walked the red carpet at the Oscars wearing Kevan Hall, another outstanding alumnus of the fashion college. The chic navy and black bustier gown featured a softly draped silk chiffon overlay bodice and Chantilly lace ribbons. “The History of Fashion class was my favorite at FIDM,” says Hall, who has dressed everyone from Katherine Heigl to Best Actress nominee Gabourey Sidibe. “I love to look back to the past for inspiration.”
