Recruiters Rely on Assessment Software, Even in Employers’ Market

SkillSurvey, Inc., the inventor and leading provider of Web 2.0 reference assessment solutions has announced that in 2009, the company increased its bookings growth by 32 percent from 2008. Hundreds of organizations now use SkillSurvey as a hiring best practice.

“The level of growth we achieved is particularly meaningful given that our products are tied directly to hiring trends,” remarks Ray Bixler, chief executive officer. “You might expect that in a slow economy, when companies are making fewer hires, that, our own sales would slow, but that hasn’t been the case.”

Bixler contends that companies value SkillSurvey’s enterprise software for its efficiencies and decision support even in a tight labor market. “Most companies value our Pre-Hire 360® solution because they are overwhelmed by the number of applicants for any given position,” he explains. “With objective, Pre-Hire 360® assessments on candidates, they are able to select the very best candidate from among a pool of applicants. Also, they’re using our Passive Candidate Compiler™ to amass a database of qualified candidates in preparation for when the employment market opens up.”

The company attributes part of its ongoing growth to its commitment to continuous improvement and responding to customer requests for enhancements. In 2009, SkillSurvey introduced two new products: The Passive Candidate Accelerator™, available as part of a subscription to the Passive Candidate Compiler™, and The Candidate Comparison Report™, a new capability within the Pre-Hire 360® software.

The former taps newly hired employees for contact information on people whom they’d recommend for selected positions within their new organization—an especially effective strategy for sourcing candidates for hard-to-fill positions. The latter allows users to produce a report comparing up to 20 job candidates across a number of behaviors and metrics. This ability changes the dynamics of the selection process as it is most valuable before interviewing begins.
