This is a compelling way to reduce the environmental footprint of Ontario’s subdivisions and generate more revenue for the home owner
Oshawa, ON (PRWEB) March 10, 2010
Marshall Homes (http://www.marshallhomes.ca) has become Ontario’s first subdivision builder to embrace a unique new Solar PV (photovoltaic) offering by Toronto-based PURE energies. The PURE energies Solar Power Community is a program that promises to dramatically accelerate the adoption of solar energy in this province by eliminating design headaches and more importantly, the upfront cost of this technology for homeowners in designated new developments. At the same time, the initiative will provide homeowners with a performance guaranty and a steady source of income over a 20-year period.
Marshall Homes’ is currently installing a PURE energies Solar PV system in a home under construction in its Kingsfield subdivision in Oshawa. The home will be used to showcase this technology to prospective home buyers as a viable way to reduce their carbon footprint while generating a steady source of income. It will also to serve as a model for other Ontario builders interested in constructing homes for homeowners who want to make a difference to the environment.
The PURE energies Solar Power Community program is designed exclusively for Ontario subdivision builders. PURE energies, in partnership with Suntech Power, and SMA America, the world’s largest supplier of solar panels and inverters, will install and service Solar PV systems (in participating new communities) that would normally cost between $40,000-80,000, at no cost to homeowners. In addition, the homeowner will receive an annual payment for energy produced by the system of as much as $1,200.
Craig Marshall, whose company Marshall Homes is widely recognized as a market leader when it comes to building energy efficient homes, says PURE energies’ solution has the potential to dramatically change the landscape of the Ontario building industry. “PURE energies is the first company to offer an economically viable way for builders and our home owners to adopt Solar PV technology in this province. This is a compelling way to reduce the environmental footprint of Ontario’s subdivisions and generate more revenue for the home owner, by turning these developments into energy producing communities at no cost to the homeowner or builder,” observes Marshall. “From our perspective, it’s a solution that ties in directly with our long-term goal of building homes that have a zero energy footprint.”
The PURE energies Solar Power Community program is the culmination of a partnership with world-class partners for the benefit of Ontario home owners. “Our company is structured in a way that enables Ontario Home owners to use solar PV to generate income – so there’s a financial incentive in place… and at the same time, they can feel good about supporting the province’s drive to produce more renewable energy,” says PURE energies’ Zbigniew Barwicz, President and CEO. “And the scale of our commitment to Ontario province is significant, as we are in a position to supply up to 17MW of high quality and highly efficient solar energy systems for the Ontario marketplace in 2010 alone.”
This 17 MW supply is equivalent to the energy required to (heat and cool) replace 6,000 homes for a year or in terms of reducing the province’s carbon footprint, taking 3,000 cars off the road and eliminating the emission of 16,000 metric tons of CO2 per year.
Minister of Economic Development and Trade Welcomes New Initiative
“PURE Energies recognizes the tremendous opportunities created by The Green Energy Act and has made a smart decision to invest in Ontario,” said Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Economic Development and Trade. “We welcome this investment and the hundreds of new jobs that will support the growing demand for solar energy in the residential market.’
And in the words of Steve Chan, Chief Strategy Officer, Suntech America, "As the world leader in solar panel manufacturing, Suntech is excited to partner with PURE energies to accelerate the adoption of solar power across Ontario. PURE energies' comprehensive and well-thought out offering provides high quality, cost-effective solar power solutions that will make it easier than ever to integrate clean power into everyday living."
